We’re galloping through the week, and it’s time for the #WIPitup blog hop again. 🙂 I am currently penning the sequel to my #1 bestselling Viking romance, The Viking’s Conquest, and I’m racing towards the end! As per usual, Princess Aurelie’s fate seems dark, and intrinsically linked to the destiny of her Viking masters. In this snippet, things are about to get even more grave…
Standing before the horse, he pauses, whispering to me in a gravelly voice. “We need to mount now, and quietly. Either you can be a good girl and cooperate, or I can flip you over her back and ride with you bound like a sack of herring.” He pauses, the weight of his stare evident to me even in the darkness. “Which would you prefer?”
Blinking at him wildly, I complain through the material shoved into my mouth. I have no intention of getting on his horse, and going anywhere with him. The idea of being Magnus’ prisoner makes me sick to my stomach. I know precisely what he will have in mind. He will want to master me in all the ways which Anders has done. I draw in a breath, recalling the way his eyes had lit up when I’d been Anders’ captive before. He had wanted to use and abuse me then, and he’ll see that he does so now. Without Anders here to tame his proclivities, I am done for…
“Too late,” he sneers, his tone gleeful. “Looks as though I get to decide, and I am in no mood to accommodate you.”
I flinch at his words, and a split second later he grabs me, picking me up around the middle and throwing me over the mare’s back. I screech into the gag, the shock of the movement, coupled with the pain in the wrist, and my undignified position making the guttural noise come from me. Magnus mounts the horse a moment later, his movement evident even from my place. He wastes no time, and pulls the back of my gown north over my back, the fabric covering my bound wrists.
“I told you to be quiet!” He hisses, as he smacks my exposed behind three times. The swats are hard, and I yelp again, producing a fourth strike from the Viking next to me. “I will tan this pretty backside every time you make a sound,” he growls from over me. “So, if you want to be able to sit down again, I’d suggest silence.”
Hopefully Aurelie’s fortunes will improve, and she’ll find the happy ever after she so desperately longs for…
